Demystifying therapy and what to expect.

My therapeutic approach: The humanistic perspective takes a positive view of the human experience and builds on the individual's potential to thrive in the natural world. Anyone can reach their goals and aspirations within reason. Humans have the ability to thrive and reach their full potential with joy. You can expect me to be real, authentic, and genuine with you. There is no doubt that I will have unconditional positive regard for you without judgment. I truly want what is best for you. I will empathically listen to you with understanding to help you process.

We will work in the framework of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to identify your negative thoughts and the events that led to them. Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected; and we will work on changing any cognitive distortions that are impacting you to thrive. I will show you how to emotionally regulate when you are in distress. Cognitive-behavioral therapy will help you reframe how you think about yourself and your experiences.

I hope to help you become your own therapist by altering patterns of thinking and cultivating skills to navigate your emotions and worldviews.

Individual Therapy Sessions

Sessions are available in person or virtually. Together we will build your individualized therapy plan and discuss your barriers and lived experiences. We will look at the road blocks and find a logical way to start your journey. We will build on your strengths, and I will help you set realistic goals. You already have all the answers, and I will help guide you to them in a trusted environment.

A few reasons why people attend therapy:

  • Do you find yourself on repeat and do you feel stuck?

  • Have you made life changes but feel you are still struggling?

  • Are you having a difficult time aligning your values and beliefs in a way that makes sense to you?

  • Are your thoughts causing you anxiety and fear to take action?

  • Are you feeling down and hopeless or fear something awful may happen?

  • Have you experienced a loss in your life?

  • Does anxiety get in the way of you living life to its fullest?

  • Do you feel a need to further process experiences that are looming over your head?

Group Therapy

Living with loss group:

Bereavement is a painful and personal process that moves in waves from denial, anger, depression, bargaining and acceptance, but not in a predictable order. Grief is a natural response to loss, and it is often avoided by society due to discomfort. In group we will explore coping skills, triggers, and our stories. I hope to bring 5 people together in person to share and support one another. Grief is one of life’s most painful experiences. You are not alone. Please contact me for an interview to secure your enrollment with this closed group. Winter sessions will begin in December, 2023.
